One of my Axis(Z) binding

Post by pepperoni » Sat May 19, 2018 2:08 am

It was printing fine for the past few days but just started noticing layer shift on a print I just started. I cancelled the print, started a new one at a lower speed, and the binding was so great that it caused the printer to miss steps. I manually moved the Z axis up and down and it the effort required to move the gantry cycles between more pressure and less pressure. Almost feels like the motor is binding or the shaft is bent. I completely removed the belt, did the 2 second freefall thing, and noticed that the gantry is no longer as tight against the aluminum extrusion as it was day 1.

I wonder if the Z motor is defective. There's no shaft sticking out of the gt2 pulley on the Z axis, whereas the X and Y have good couple MM sticking out
