Re: Which slicer are people using

To test it I set -0.2mm of extra restart and had huge gaps after retracts, so that was good. I've just started a new wing segment with -0.04mm of extra restart and the blobs are significantly smaller. There are a lot of wing segments to experiment with, so I'll eventually land on a reasonable settin...

Re: Which slicer are people using

This print is a single perimeter. I'm using ABS sourced from Filaments.ca, who claim to use all fresh ingredients and have the usual buffet of space-aged quality control. It still smells bad. Here are my settings and a close-up with some decentish lighting. My layer height is 0.2mm, these blobs are ...

Which slicer are people using

I've been using the Prusa version of Slic3r for a while. I've got things pretty much dialed in, but I'm still getting little blobs on the start/stop of each layer. This is exacerbated by using random start positions on each layer, I get really zitty prints. My retractions are down to .6mm, and I hav...

Calibrating the Extruder

I've read and performed the e-step calibration outlined by Triffid and got things dialed in really but it's spool specific. I measure my filament in several spots with a micrometer and average the readings for the filament diameter, set the multiplier to 1.0, and futz the e-steps to get a good extru...

G-Code editing

There was a recent post on the Facebook page about printing a temperature tower in order to get a decent calibration for your filament. This requires changing your temperature every centimeter-ish of build height, which can be done manually or in g-code. I was going to give this a try and found that...
