Cleaning Nozzle before Auto-Calibrate

Best practices question - Post printing (or post loading a new roll of filament), I'll have a little nub of filament on the nozzle. This (I assume) needs cleaned off before the auto-calibration routine starts, as it would negatively impact the touch-point of the nozzle during calibration. I messed u...

Re: Best Practices for Changing Filaments

That's what I'd like to avoid! I've found it difficult to a) get the old filament out and b) get the new filament in, with the idler installed

Best Practices for Changing Filaments

What's the recommended process for changing filaments? Here's what I'm currently doing, just wanting to make sure I'm not completely off base: 1. Heat Extruder to 200*C 2. Run "Extract Filament" Macro 3. Snip the filament just above where it enters the extruder, and pull the rest out with pliers 4. ...

Re: Print was perfect - until it wasn't

Thanks, I was working with Kenneth from FB, and he got me set up perfectly to restart the print. It looked great until the head tried to accelerate quickly to the outside perimeter. Sounded like a stepper was grinding, I could see the head change orientation (like one of the movements was dragging b...

Print was perfect - until it wasn't

I was printing the end cap for a bullet bill - https://www.myminifactory.com/object/bullet-bill-26743 - at 200%. I was having some trouble on the first few solid layers with the extruder leaving lines in the layers, indicating a drag. I corrected this with 0.15mm baby-z-step that seemed to resolve t...

Re: Extruder path lines in first layer

Is that something that needs corrected? Looking at the settings available to me in Slic3r, I'd guess either a different first layer extrusion width (currently the same as the default extrusion width of 0.4), or a different first layer height (currently the same as all other layers for this profile, ...

Extruder path lines in first layer

While printing a piece for a 200% bullet bill I noticed on the first layer some light colored scars / lines that matched the extruder path taken between moves to various areas of the first layer. I think this may have been what caused a shift I noticed in a different print (extruder colliding with f...

Re: First print issue - shifted layers

Just a quick update - I switched the motors back to normal and printed a benchy (which is taller than the plug I was printing) and everything worked great.

Re: First print issue - shifted layers

I left a message but I'll update here as well for history's sake - I wasn't able to finish the print after switching the XY axes, the first layer looked awful and started to peel up on me about half way through, not even to the point where I witnessed the earliest layer shift earlier. Below is a pho...

Re: First print issue - shifted layers

@Ultibots - After retensioning and recalibrating, I'm still getting an odd layer shift using the same file. It's not in the same layer this time, but it is in the same conic portion of the part.
